Technically, he started last Sunday at the "Festival of Faith"- their annual all-church worship service, held at the local performing arts center (read: it's big. LOTS of people). Dave was officially introduced to the congregation on that day, but pretty much all he had to do was look pretty and wave (something he accomplished with great skill and precision, I might add).
Then on Monday, he headed into the office for his first day of work. I felt that Dave needed his own photo shoot to commemorate the momentous occasion. But......... well you can judge for yourself how it went.

Awkward.
I WISH we had photos of today's event. Because today Dave is all dressed up for Luther-Town. Khaki pants, brown shoes and belt, AND a black shirt with a clerical collar. He looks for reals legit in that thing. Like he could bless babies and consecrate elements and.... other various and sundry holy activities.
It's really real, this life we're living. We're pastors in this town. We're getting to know people's stories and doing our best to point out the ways that Jesus fits into those tales. We're praying and planning and dreaming of how we might join with these churches in their work for the Kingdom. And we're coming home from work every night, saying, "I have no idea what I am doing."
At least we're doing it together.
