Adventures at the Farmers' Market

This is most definitely the time of year to be living (and eating) in central Illinois. Food doesn't get much fresher or more local than this.

We bought corn for 30 cents an ear, a bunch of ugly (yet delicious) tomatoes, an eggplant, homemade brats, AND we got two ginormous zucchinis absolutely free!

Dave wants to join CSA next year, which overall I think is a GREAT idea. Who doesn't want to support local farmers and get fresh produce set aside for them each week? The only thing is, I'm kind of afraid that one week, we'll get a box full of bok choy or something and I'll have to figure out how to cook bok choy for breakfast, lunch and dinner? Bok choy pancakes. Bok choy sandwiches. Bok choy pizza. It could get real ugly, real fast.

But for now, at the height of growing season, I heart local farmers and I heart Bloomington/Normal. Who would have guessed?

Thanks for the tips! I love CSA's and often they'll give you recipes for some of the randomer stuff you get. Also, you can share with neighbors/friends and don't have to eat bok choy 3x/day (though I do like it). Allrecipes.com and other places have good recommendations too:)
